1. Who We Are

The Solver is operated by The Solver Pty Ltd (ABN to be registered), based in Australia. When this policy says "we", "us" or "our", it means The Solver.

2. What Information We Collect

Information you give us directly:

• Account information — your name, email address and password when you sign up
• Company information — your business name and team members you invite
• Waitlist information — your name, email, business name, role and pain points when you join the waitlist
• Formula and business data — formulas, batch records, inventory, supplier information and other data you enter into the platform
• Communications — any messages you send to our support team

Information collected automatically:

• Usage data — pages visited, features used, time spent in the app
• Device information — browser type, operating system, screen size
• Log data — IP address, access times, referring URLs

Information we do not collect:

• Payment card numbers (handled directly by Stripe — we never see your card details)
• Sensitive personal information (race, health, biometrics)
• Information about children

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide, operate and improve The Solver
• Send you account-related emails (confirmations, security alerts, product updates)
• Respond to support requests
• Send product updates and announcements (you can unsubscribe at any time)
• Understand how people use the platform so we can improve it
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your formula or business data for any purpose other than providing the service to you.

4. Who We Share Information With

We share your information only where necessary to operate the service:

• Supabase — our database and authentication provider. Your data is stored in Supabase's infrastructure. Supabase Privacy Policy →
• Stripe — payment processing. We pass your email to Stripe to create a billing account. Stripe handles all payment card data. Stripe Privacy Policy →

• Email service providers — for sending transactional and marketing emails

All third-party providers are required to process your data only as instructed and in accordance with applicable privacy law.

We may disclose information if required by law, court order or government authority. We will notify you where legally permitted to do so.

5. Your Formula and Business Data

Your formula library, batch records, inventory data, client information and all other business data you enter into The Solver belongs to you.

• We do not read, analyse or share your business data except to provide the service
• We do not use your formula data to train AI models or for any commercial purpose
• You can export your data at any time (CSV export available in the app)
• If you close your account, we will delete your data within 30 days unless we are required to retain it by law

6. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in Supabase's infrastructure, hosted on AWS in the Sydney (ap-southeast-2) region. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256).

We use row-level security to ensure each user can only access their own company's data. Access controls are in place to limit who at The Solver can access production data.

No system is 100% secure. If we become aware of a security breach that affects your data, we will notify you as required under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Notifiable Data Breaches scheme).

7. Cookies and Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how people use our website. This tool does not use cookies and does not track individuals across sites. It provides aggregate traffic data only.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels or third-party analytics that share your data with advertisers.

We use session cookies that are strictly necessary for the app to function (keeping you logged in). These cannot be disabled.

8. Your Rights Under Australian Privacy Law

Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
• Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information
• Deletion — ask us to delete your personal information (subject to legal retention requirements)
• Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
• Opt-out — unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time
• Complaints — lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au

9. International Users

If you access The Solver from outside Australia, your data may be transferred to and processed in Australia. By using the service, you consent to this transfer. We ensure any international transfers comply with applicable privacy law.

For users in the UK or EU, we comply with UK GDPR and EU GDPR where applicable. You have the same rights as described above plus the right to restrict processing and to object to processing based on legitimate interests.

10. Data Retention

• Active accounts — we retain your data for as long as your account is active
• Cancelled accounts — we delete your data within 30 days of account closure
• Waitlist data — retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion
• Billing records — retained for 7 years as required by Australian tax law
• Audit logs — retained for 2 years for security purposes

11. Children

The Solver is a professional business tool. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child, we will delete it promptly.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you by email and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
